Digital advertising campaign
Situation
For this campaign, I created a series of web ads for fictional bridal boutique, Alexia’s Bridal. The end goal was to create an ad with a strong call-to-action that would catch the viewer’s attention and encourage them to click through to the boutique’s website and schedule an appointment. The ads also needed to be very visual.
Process: Preliminary work
I began my process with sketching out a few concepts for the ad’s general layout. I also wrote out a few thoughts in my sketchbook for taglines and call-to-actions. Both the sketches and written information provided a direction to follow as I walked through the process.
Process: Next steps
After sketching ad concepts, I selected my images and made edits to the images. I softened the images by applying a Gaussian blur to the backgrounds. I then sharpened the subject for greater contrast and to make the wedding dresses stand out more. These images provided the foundation for my ads.
Process: The design
As I began designing the web ads, I chose to use soft colors, natural elements and blur effects to create a dreamy, fantasy-like design. I enlarged one version of the chosen image, added additional blur, and used a neutral area as my background. With another version of the image, I overlayed the subject, created a mask, and used the brush tool to create transparency in selected areas to soften and blend the subject’s surrounding with the background. I added the client name next and then used a different tagline for each of the three ads. My call-to-action came in the form of a button for booking an appointment.
Additional elements
Finally, since this campaign focused on digital advertising, I included a website and social media to further the reach of Alexia’s Bridal. The campaign targets women between the ages of 20 and 35 years of age shopping for a wedding dress. As this demographic spends a lot of time online, these pieces are strategically chosen to reach brides who frequently shop online and use it browse wedding dress options.
